Full Version
1. General
These terms of use apply to the services provided by ClimateHero (the “Service”) between ClimateHero AB (“ClimateHero”) and you (“the User”).
ClimateHero offers a comprehensive range of Services designed to help Users calculate, reduce, and offset their emissions. These Services cater to both individuals and businesses.
Carbon offsetting means financing climate solutions that reduce or remove CO₂ from the atmosphere, contributing to meaningful global emissions reduction.
These Terms apply to all ClimateHero services except the Business Calculator, which is governed by a separate License Agreement available at business-calculator.climatehero.org.
2. Usage of the Service
The User may use the Service for personal or internal business purposes, unless otherwise agreed with ClimateHero. ClimateHero reserves the right, at its own discretion, to suspend or terminate Users who are deemed to violate the Terms of Use or otherwise misuse the Service. ClimateHero may also block a User account for a certain period in order to investigate any breach of contract.
The User confirms their identity in the Service through their email address, and in the case of carbon offsets, through payment by credit card or other selected payment method. This applies to all Services, including those for both individuals and businesses, where Users engage via an online service without direct interaction with a ClimateHero representative. ClimateHero cannot be held responsible for unauthorized use of the Service if the User’s email address or credit card is used by an unauthorized person.
3. Guidelines for Carbon Offsets
Climate solutions
ClimateHero offers two types of verified climate solutions:
- Avoided emissions, certified by Gold Standard. Accelerates the green transition through certified climate projects.
- Long-term carbon removal. Pyrolysis of residual biomass into biochar, stably stored in soil for hundreds of years.
Unless otherwise clearly stated at the point of purchase or in a separate agreement, carbon offsets are fulfilled through ClimateHero’s portfolio of Gold Standard certified climate projects. For certain products a combination of climate solutions may be used.
The guidelines for ClimateHero’s climate projects are reviewed annually and can be found at climatehero.org/en/projects.
Carbon offsets for individuals
ClimateHero offers Users the option to offset emissions through a monthly subscription or by purchasing one-off offsets for specific activities such as flights, car trips or events, climate gifts, or individual tonnes of CO₂e.
For monthly subscriptions:
- If based on an estimated carbon footprint, 200% of that footprint is offset per year, capped at a maximum footprint of 15 tonnes of CO₂e per person.
- If not, 10 tonnes of CO₂e per year is offset.
- If the User chooses to include additional adults, they are assumed to have the same carbon footprint as the User. Children are assumed to have half the carbon footprint of the User.
When purchasing one-off offsets, ClimateHero funds climate solutions corresponding to the emissions associated with the selected activity or purchased volume.
Carbon offsets for businesses
The terms for individuals also apply to carbon offset purchases made by businesses. For businesses receiving tailored support through ClimateHero’s Consulting Services, the offsetting strategy is agreed individually and the standard guidelines above may not apply.
4. Prices
Prices for carbon offsetting are outlined in ClimateHero's price list, available on our website.
For subscription services, any price adjustments will be made no more than once per calendar year and will be communicated to the User at least 30 days before taking effect.
For one-off offsets, the price applicable at the time of purchase applies.
ClimateHero assumes no responsibility for any tax implications arising from the User’s use of the Service.
5. Changes in the Service
ClimateHero reserves the right to make updates and changes to the Service at any time.
6. Rights
All intellectual property rights relating to or related to the Service, including, but not exclusive to, copyright to software and source code, are ClimateHero’s exclusive property and remain with ClimateHero. ClimateHero is the personal data controller for the processing of the personal data that the User submits to ClimateHero. The personal data is handled in accordance with ClimateHero’s privacy policy, which the User must approve in order to use the Service and which can be read separately at go.climatehero.org/privacy-policy.
ClimateHero uses the User’s personal data in order to identify the User, communicate with the User, administer the User’s personal data to fulfill this agreement, for statistical purposes, and otherwise administer the Service.

The User can also request rectification, modification or updating of registered information if this cannot be done on their own in the Service. If Users wish to access or change the information, a request must be submitted to ClimateHero via email. The request is sent to hello@climatehero.org from the User’s email address registered in the Service.

9. Termination
For offset subscriptions, the User is entitled to update or terminate at any time with one month’s notice. If Users wish to change or terminate their subscription, a request must be submitted to ClimateHero by email from the User’s registered email address to hello@climatehero.org.
ClimateHero reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to terminate these Terms of Use with immediate effect, to permanently close the User’s account, or to suspend the User temporarily if (i) the User violates the terms herein, (ii) a third party claim is directed against ClimateHero in connection with the User’s use of the Service, or (iii) ClimateHero otherwise decides for commercial or other reasons, such as a result of a judgment or authority decision, to no longer provide the Service. Upon termination, the User shall immediately cease use of the Service.
10. Changes and Terms
Pricing and changes to subscription services are governed by §4. For all other changes, ClimateHero may update the terms immediately and will inform the User in an appropriate manner.
ClimateHero may also apply any change immediately if required by law, regulation, court or authority decision, and will inform the User as soon as possible.
If the User does not accept a change, the User has the right to terminate this agreement with immediate effect and cease use of the Service.
11. Dispute
Swedish law shall apply to these terms of use. Disputes arising out of these Terms of Use shall be settled in a Swedish public court, with the Stockholm District Court as the court of first instance.
